There is a dedicated Senior Mental Health Lead at the school, there are Year 4 Mental Health Champions who support their peers, Beresford Memorial also works with One Goal to develop Mental Health Champions at school and Year 4 have also taken part in the Relationships without Fear programme, delivered by Glow.
The school has its own on-site NHS Mental Health Support Worker as part of the Trailblazer Project who works with the Senior Mental Health Lead helping to protect children, staff and carers associated with the school. The Senior Mental Health Lead and NHS Mental Health Support Worker run a Mighty Minds (wellbeing) lunchtime group, workshops for parents and carers take place throughout the year, as well as for staff and the NHS Mental Health Support Worker also works with classes of children on a termly basis on rotation.
Children and parents can also attend sessions on a 1:1 basis and the Senior Mental Health Lead also works with the school SENCO, completing referrals to CAMHS, the education psychologist and requesting input and support from other external bodies such as the local special schools. The school is very supportive of its adults who say they feel listened to.
